This year we celebrated the time-to-give-thanks with a good ol' fashioned Friendsgiving.
Family members live far away. Work has seeped into the actual holi-day. So, we adjust.
But we still buy marshmallow fluff.
We still bake.
We still play games through the night.
We send love to family far away and enjoy those nearby.
We realize the date doesn't matter. But the food still does.
I am thankful for adjusting, learning to go with the flow and living in the moment.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
A special thanks to my hubby, Miranda & Alex for our very own Friendsgiving 2014.
Some days are the worst.
Pants don't fit. Car won't start. Dropped phone in toilet. Pizza place closed on Mondays.
Some days you need a reminder why you're getting up.
While you're here, check out my first Inspiration Station. When you really need to dig deep.
I personally created that gallery of quotes and it has truly helped me through uncertain times. And some are just funny.
Other days you may just need a reminder of why some of your stress is worth it. Why you just. keep. going.
For me, I look up to other photographers that I think have it all figured out. I love following them through social media and get a kick in the pants by the beauty they create.
Inspiration. Here is mine.
Clyde Butcher - unparalleled black & white nature photos, mainly from South Florida.
Beth Kirby of Local Milk Blog - moody photos of homemade food you'd kill for.
Julia Trotti - dreamy and glamorous portraits of women.
Finn Beales - the faraway landscapes of my dreams.
Adam Sentori - aviation + photography.
Karen Knorr - whimsical, nostalgic and creative.
Nick Brandt - phenomenal take on African animals along with a superb foundation. Find him on Artsy too!
Visit these photographer's websites and I'll bet you'll fall in love with at least one of them!
Enjoy where you're at and enjoy others.
This morning we woke up to a November 1st winter wonderland. These photos were taken just a few days ago. November was ready to take over and make its mark.
Although a few leaves are still holding on and the cold snap will pass within a day or two, these may be my last fall photos for 2014. Makes me appreciate how beautiful October was even more. A colorful jungle.
Our hikes will become more infrequent soon. Picnics in the back of the Jeep even more so.
