2016 was an interesting one. Emotional and exhausting come to mind when I think of worldviews. Progressive and meaningful come to mind on a personal level. As we walk into a new year, I'm ready to take a beat and think about how I want 2017 to look and what I'm going to do to make it happen.
First, a reflection of how I did on my 2016 resolutions.
Accomplished to some degree:
Didn't do so hot on these goals (it's important to be honest with yourself):
And now for 2017.
Where do I see myself growing? How can I achieve these things?
This is a fluid "agreement" with myself as I add more goals and as I give myself a break on inevitable setbacks.
Ok ok. 5 will do. A now, a quick word to the new year...
Please don't be worse than 2016. There are large numbers of us worried about the future.
Or should I say, you need more.
Hiring a photographer is not just about (finally!) getting photos of that thing you sell. Photography is about selling your brand. Everything includes photos, even Twitter posts!
Photos step in when your words fall short. Photos represent you at your best even if you're having a lazy day. Photos sell your stuff.
Here is what you need in your photography package if you're running a small biz...
How will photos tell your story?
Wrapping up the gift may be more fun than actually buying it!
As I dug around my basement storage bins, I could see how many options I have when gift wrapping this year. When wrapping for so many different personalities, I love to have these options!
Let's start with a simple gift.
Wrap it up with your favorite paper (store bought, kraft or newspaper!).
Have twine or ribbon on hand.
Now, let's personalize.
For the nature lover.
For the Thrifty.
Finding small holiday trinkets or vintage ornaments around the thrift stores? Put them to good use and decorate your gift wrap!
Feel free to deconstruct any of your finds to get just what you need & not overwhelm the package.
For the crafty.
Don't let your holiday cards from last year go to waste. Cut out your favorite part of the card and repurpose it as a gift tag this year!
Already recylced last year's cards? This also works with (holiday edition) magazine clippings.
For the vintage lover.
Hop online and Google your favorite vintage holiday images.
Best searches: "vintage holiday" & "old fashioned christmas". I also like the idea of using a still from a favorite classic holiday movie.
Print, cut out & use as gift tag!
Happy holidays to you and yours!
Fellow Asheville locals & Asheville-lovers, I've gathered up some of my favorite gift ideas from other artists in the area for the season of giving. There are so many talented folks offering up fantastic products, it was tough to narrow down but here we go!
