I had not been to Charleston, South Carolina since I was a kid. And I didn't remember a thing. And once we got there, nothing looked familiar. But! Charleston was just as lovely as I'd hoped for. The sweet southern porches surrounded us. The one pictured above was at the Barksdale House Inn, where we stayed a few days. The location was perfect and we enjoyed how quaint the atmosphere was with wonderful service from their team. Of course, the Magnolia Cemetery was a must see for us. It is actually located adjacent to two other beautiful cemeteries so you could spend a long time roaming around. Ya know, if you're into cemeteries. The Civil War is highly represented here. Less than a 4 hour drive from Asheville, Charleston is a great getaway. It was pretty chilly this February so a spring or fall trip may be a bit more fun for walking around.
More Charleston here. That was the final stop of our southern road trip, and now we're back to reality. Reality isn't so bad when you live in Asheville, NC though.
