Asheville Interior Design Photography: Pre-Shoot Preparations

It’s all about preparation + intention when it comes to 2 creatives coming together for a collaboration!

Communicating aesthetic goals is fundamental.

Establishing a clear understanding with the client regarding the shoot's desired outcome steers the entire process towards achieving a distinct representation of the space.

Collaboration on Vision

Aligning photographer and client perspectives is essential for cohesive storytelling. It begins with a discussion between the photographer and client, where objectives are defined. Share it all, don’t hold back! And never assume your collaborator is already on the same page - it makes more sense to elaborate so the investment you’re making in photography is well worth it.

Whether it's capturing the cozy ambiance of a mountain cabin in Asheville or a chic downtown loft, clarifying the vision lays the groundwork for a purposeful photo shoot.

Sunlight Coordination

To leverage the benefits of natural light, planning and scheduling are important!

Your photographer must carefully consider the orientation of windows, the time of day, and the seasonal variations in daylight hours to create a schedule for your session. By strategically scheduling shoots during times when natural light complements the space, photographers can elevate the images, capturing the ambiance and design in its most flattering form.

A little concerned about the natural light available? Work with a photographer who’s comfortable with and skilled in using artificial light - it’s a non negotiable in photographing spaces.

Creation of a Shot List

A shot list acts as a roadmap for the photography team, guiding us through the shoot and ensuring that no aspect of the space goes undocumented. A shot list also allows the photographer to plan out a shoot so we all know how much time is needed.

By outlining the specific shots to be captured, including wide-angle views, close-up details, and unique perspectives, the shot list streamlines the process, minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency on set.

One of the primary objectives of a shooting script is to capture the natural flow and layout of interior spaces. By strategically planning each shot, photographers can convey the spatial relationships between different areas, guiding the viewer's eye through the space and creating a sense of continuity and coherence in the final images.

Preemptive Troubleshooting

Not much explaining needed here, let’s work together to anticipate challenges in unusual room layouts or tricky lighting conditions. The more prepared I can be, the better the results!

In Closing

This collaborative process aligns your photographer's technical expertise with your design narrative. It moves abstract concepts into concrete imagery, beautifully articulating the essence of Asheville's best architectural spaces.
