How to get the Best Dance Floor Photos

For my party people. For those who dance into the night to celebrate.

For the playful, the wild, the free 💃🏼

If you're in the exciting phase of planning your wedding and envisioning epic dance floor moments, this blog post is for you.

As a wedding photographer who has witnessed countless celebrations unfold, I'm sharing simple tips on how you can ensure the most fun dance floor photos!

Dress Code

Consider a dance floor dress code: cocktail attire + sneakers. The last time I saw this, everyone was on the dance floor at one point or another because their feet didn't hurt! Plus, the looks were fire - think cocktail mini dresses + cute kicks.

Props

Hand out fun props - simple as that! I could see every guest instantly become more comfortable in front of my camera once they had heart shaped glasses on! Your guests aren’t always the most comfy with having their photos taken all day, fun props help with that.

Lead the Way

If you two act comfy around the camera, so will everyone else. Everyone at the wedding will be taking their cue from you, so have fun, ignore the camera and let loose! Dance even harder FOR the camera!

Donuts

Donuts. Keep the snacks comin’. Keep people fed. It’s their fuel and prevents a drunken mess.

Hydrate

Provide more water than you think is needed (all night long). For the DIY couples out there, I’ve seen plenty of wedding DIY receptions fall short on the amount of drinking water needed for their guests. More is better in this case!

Sweatsuits

If you're doing a fun exit after the dance floor winds down, consider changing into "exit" clothes. It was cold and windy out this winter evening, so I know Anna and Taylor were thrilled to put on cozy sweatsuits for their exit and how cute are they?! Tailor this to your style, do you.
